Mercy Hospital Berryville Auxiliary announces the recipients of its 2023 High School Scholarships, Meredith Loudermilk and Kaylee McCarty. Meredith Loudermilk (left) attends Eureka Springs High School and plans to attend Missouri Southern State University majoring in psychology. She is the daughter of Dr. Jon and Laura Loudermilk. Kaylee McCarty (right) attends Berryville High School and plans to attend the University of Central Arkansas this fall, majoring in microbiology. She is the daughter of Terry and Jennifer McCarty.

The Eureka Springs Community Center held a Community Cleanup Day on Wednesday, April 12. Volunteers helped clear litter from the ESCC campus, roadside, fitness trail, parking area and business center.

The Texas Boys Choir will perform at 5:15 p.m. Sunday, April 23, in the Crescent Hotel’s Crystal Dining Room.

Central Scheduler Shannon Magee is Eureka Springs Hospital’s Employee of the Month for March 2023. Shannon has worked at the hospital in different departments over the years and said she loves to see the passion from all her coworkers. “The people who are here are here because they choose to be and they like what they’re doing for the community,” Shannon said. In her free time, Shannon enjoys riding horses and gardening.

The Bridge of Love returns to Eureka Springs from Thursday, May 12, to Sunday, May 14, 2023 as families (local and tourists) come to downtown Eureka Springs to celebrate Mother’s Day weekend. It is a heartwarming time on the Bridge, often mixed with tearful moments, as children, parents, grandparents and friends tie flowers to the Bridge.

Many of the oldest newspapers in Eureka Springs were lost to the fires of 1883, 1888, 1890 and 1893. A collection of the issues that survived can be found in the Eureka Springs Historical Museum archives, although they are very brittle and the museum staff avoid handling them unless it is absolutely necessary.
