Council ponders using CAPC money for dam

Dam discussions filled up most of the quick Eureka Springs City Council regular meeting June 27. Coming up with ways to help pay for repairs and improvements to the dam at Black Bass Lake consumed much of the 38-minute meeting at The Auditorium, the majority of time being spent debating whether the City Advertising and Promotion Commission can legally contribute funds to the project.

County death toll continues to rise

Another COVID-related death was reported in Carroll County last week, bringing the number of those who have died from complications related to the novel coronavirus to 106. The additional death was accompanied by another jump in the number of active cases, with 77 reported Friday, June 24, by the Arkansas Department of Health, which reported 59 active cases on June 17.

Flint Street fundraiser

A fundraiser for the Flint Street food bank was held June 10 at the Ozark Mountain Hoedown. Two tables of non-perishable food items and $863 in cash and checked were raised and presented to the food bank.
