Tyson expands employee education program

Employees at Tyson Foods will soon have access to expanded educational opportunities thanks to a new partnership between Tyson and social impact company Guild. The partnership — funded by a four-year, $60 million investment — will allow Tyson to expand its existing Upward Academy program to include access to more than 175 programs from some of the nation’s top universities and learning providers.

Local residents help save truck driver’s life

If Berryville Middle School teacher Dave Randall asks his students to write an essay next semester about what they did over the summer, it’s likely none of them will top Randall’s own story. Randall and another Carroll County man — Camden Boardman of Eureka Springs — helped save the life of a tanker truck driver after an accident July 1 on Highway 23 South near the Madison County line.

County’s active cases top 100

For the first time in months, the Arkansas Department of Health on Friday, July 8, reported more than 100 active cases of COVID-19 in Carroll County. Friday’s report listed 112 active cases of the novel coronavirus in the county — up from the 85 reported July 1 — and an increase of 67 new cases in seven days.

Calvillo joins CS Bank as lender

Cindy Inman, senior vice president and CS Home Mortgage Division manager for CS Bank, has announced the hiring of Sheila Calvillo as home mortgage lender for the local bank’s Berryville office. Calvillo is a native of Berryville, where she lives with her husband and their two daughters.

Skin ailments

Eczema, seborrhea and psoriasis are all conditions that cause red eruptions often with scale on the skin and scalp. Eczema is found most anywhere on the body while seborrhea looks similar but involves sebaceous (oil) glands of the skin and psoriasis can be found anywhere but is usually on elbows and knees. All three are an inflammation of the skin and this is called dermatitis. None of the three is contagious.
