Motion fails, Roberts keeps seat on CAPC

By Rick Harvey RHarvey@cherryroad.com Eureka Springs City Council member Nick Roberts will remain on the City Advertising and Promotion Commission after a motion to replace him on the CAPC failed to gain approval at Monday night’s council meeting. Council member Harry Meyer made the motion to remove Roberts from the commission and council member Melissa Greene suggested replacing him with council member Bill Ott.

Johnson challenges Berry

Lovely County Citizen Eureka Springs Mayor Butch Berry and former City Advertising and Promotions Commission events coordinator Tracy Johnson are on opposite sides of a legal battle. Now, they’ll be opponents on the ballot as well.

Attorney advises city council: Don’t discuss pending lawsuits

Eureka Springs city attorney Forrest Jacobi, in a memo to the city council, says discussing litigation against the city at council meetings “will not be in the best interest of the city.” In the memorandum, dated July 29, Jacobi refers to a letter written by the late Tim Weaver, then the city attorney, in September 2017. “Tim Weaver strongly advised the City Council from discussing ongoing litigation against the City or even potential litigation against the City,” Jacobi writes.
