Tourism Person of the Year

Jack Moyer, executive vice president and general manager of the Crescent and Basin Park Hotels, has been honored as the 2025 Arkansas Tourism Person of the Year. The award was announced Tuesday, Feb. 25, during the 51st annual Arkansas Governor’s Conference on Tourism in Bentonville.

Each year, the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage, and Tourism hosts this statewide conference, bringing together industry professionals to discuss trends, opportunities and strategies for growing tourism in Arkansas. A key part of the event is the Henry Awards, which honor individuals, organizations and attractions making a meaningful impact on the state’s tourism industry. The Tourism Person of the Year award is selected by past recipients and is presented to an individual who has demonstrated outstanding leadership and contributed significantly to Arkansas tourism over the past year.

Moyer, who has been a leader in Eureka Springs’ tourism industry for 30 years, was recognized for his ongoing efforts to enhance local tourism and create year-round economic opportunities. In 2024, he launched A Bash With A Splash, a new New Year’s Eve celebration featuring a carnival-style parade, live concerts in Basin Park, a laser light show and a dramatic illuminated water drop and “splash” off the Basin Park Hotel in tribute to Eureka Springs’ history as “the city that water built.”

Beyond this new event, Moyer has been instrumental in sustaining and growing annual tourism initiatives that bring visitors to Eureka Springs during traditionally slower months, including Christmas at the Crescent, Eureka Springs Paranormal Weekend and Ozark Mountain Music Festival. His leadership extends beyond event planning — he was involved in the development of the Eureka Springs Community Center.

In addition to his leadership at the Crescent and Basin Park Hotels, Moyer is also co-owner of Loblolly Pines Adventure Camp.

The Eureka Springs City Advertising and Promotion Commission was one of three finalists for the 2025 Tourism Organization of the Year award, won by Visit Hot Springs.
