Main Street Eureka Springs will host a hands-on wood window repair workshop for its Preservation Bootcamp initiative on Saturday and Sunday, March 2-3.
The workshop will take place at the historic Wanderoo Lodge. Participants will learn to repair historic wood windows while repairing the windows of the Gravel Bar at the Wanderoo Lodge.
Nationally known historic preservation consultant Bob Yapp of Preservation Resources Inc. in Hannibal, Mo., will instruct the workshop.
During the two-day window workshop, Yapp will teach 14 people how to repair and maintain their wood windows or contractors to learn how to preserve windows. Participants will work each day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Each participant must commit to working all day, each of the two days. At the end of the twoday workshop, all the damaged windows in the Gravel Bar will be repaired and reinstalled.
Preservation Bootcamp is a program in Northwest Arkansas and Eureka Springs that specifically develops preservation skills, with a vision for programming that brings experts from around the country to share best practices in preserving the built environment.
Window Restoration & Weatherization Boot Camp is a fun, intense, two-day, hands-on learning experience. Students will learn cost-effective restoration and weatherization of historic double-hung wood windows. Participants will work alongside Bob Yapp and be part of a team restoring the original wood windows at Wanderoo Lodge.
The registration cost is on a sliding scale, $100 to $350, which includes on-site lunches and breaks. Registration is limited to 14 spots, which will be filled on a first-come, firstserved basis. Those interested in attending are encouraged to sign up immediately to guarantee inclusion in the workshop.
