A Eureka Springs man was killed and another Eureka Springs resident was injured in a one-vehicle accident Wednesday, Jan. 10, on Arkansas Highway 23 near Holiday Island.
According to a report written by Arkansas State Police Trooper Jackson Little, Shanae Lynn Niblett, 37, of Eureka Springs was driving a 1994 Oldsmobile southbound on Arkansas 23 at 3:30 p.m. when she lost control of the vehicle in a curve.
The vehicle traveled off the right side of the road, then overturned on its right side before coming to a rest on its top approximately 50 feet from the roadway, Little’s report says.
Darin Lee Workman, 55, of Eureka Springs was killed. Niblett was injured in the accident and was transported to Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville, the report says.
In a Facebook post, the Holiday Island Fire Department said one of the vehicle’s occupants was ejected and was pulled from a creek by bystanders. Firefighters used the Jaws of Life to extricate the second occupant, the Facebook post says. One occupant was flown from the scene by Air Evac Lifeteam, the Facebook post says, while the other was deceased at the scene.
