Paul Neuman passed away on November 5, 2023, at the Eureka Springs Hospital. He was 96 years old.

Paul was born on February 11, 1927, to Fanya (Shapiro) Neuman and Alexander Neuman. Paul lived and attended school in Maywood, Illinois, graduating from Proviso High School, class of 1945, and Elmhurst College in 1951.

In Paul’s senior year of high school, he was drafted into military service. He was allowed to finish his senior year. Two days after graduation he reported for duty in the Army.

Paul served in Italy during WWII. When it was time to be discharged, he was sent to an Army Band Unit to await his discharge papers. He told the Band Director that he did not play a musical instrument, read music and was tone deaf. The Band Director handed him a trumpet and said “fake it”.

Paul worked for Spiegel’s Mail Order for many years as a buyer. He ended his working days as National Accounts Manager for Windsor Art Products. While at Spiegel’s, Paul met his future bride, Dolores Europa. Dolores asked Paul out on a date, he accepted and that was the beginning of their 66 year “love affair”. They were married a year later on October 18, 1958, and settled down in their home in Broadview, Illinois. Last home in Naperville, Illinois. They had three sons, Robert, David, and Laurence. Paul and Dolores both enjoyed playing golf and fishing, so they decided to move south to Holiday Island, Arkansas. Paul was a member of the “Old Coots” golf group where he made many friends.

Paul is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Edgar (Dorothy) and sister, Edna (Sollie) Zapler.

Survived by beloved wife Dolores; sons, Dr. Robert Neuman, Ithaca, New York, David (Marina) Neuman, Warrenville, Illinois, and Laurence (Julie) Neuman, Indianapolis, Indiana. Grandson, Charlie Neuman, New York, New York and granddaughter, Catherine Neuman, Indianapolis, Indiana. Granddaughter, Natasha Livshits and great-granddaughter, Lira Razumova, Moscow, Russia. Nephew, Tom Zapler, River Forest, Illinois and niece, Nancy (John) Williams, Chicago, Illinois. Sister-in-law, Betty (Mark) Lipscomb, Cary, North Carolina.
