An incident that began with a report of an armed individual in the area of Carroll County Road 306 on the afternoon of Wednesday, Nov. 15, ended with the discovery of a body after officers made contact with the individual, who told officers he was “not coming out alive,” according to a news release from the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the release, Carroll County Central Dispatch received a call at about 12:17 p.m. of a white male walking around with a weapon in the area of County Road 306.
“When officers arrived, they checked the area and were able to locate the suspect in a garage,” the CCSO release says. “Verbal contact was made with the suspect who stated that he was not coming out alive. Officers took up defensive positions and called for additional assistance. Verbal contact continued for several minutes until a single gunshot was heard followed by a loud crash. Officers called out to the suspect several times with no response. Officers then breached the locked door and made entry. Upon entry a white male was discovered deceased in the floor.”
The CCSO release said the individual’s identity was being withheld pending confirmation from the crime lab as well as family notification.
