Sharon Lawlor, vice regent of Eureka Springs Abendschone Daughters of the American Revolution Chapter rang the historical bell at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 17, to commemorate the signing of the United States Constitution. Shortly afterward the American Legion Post No. 9 officiated the removal of the worn flag and the installation of a new larger flag donated by the DAR Chapter on the flagpole in Basin Park. The flagpole was donated to Basin Park by Abendschone Chapter in 1975. Constitution Week is Sept. 17-23. Pocketbook size copies of the U.S. Constitution were handed out to the audience.
