Celebration Choir offers area residents chance to perform at Carnegie Hall

Ever wanted to perform at the famous Carnegie Hall in New York City? Here’s your chance.

The Celebration Choir of Carroll County, in collaboration with MidAmerica Productions Inc., is presenting “We Remember Them: A Concert of Love, Loss and Hope” on June 23, 2024, at the Stern Auditorium/ Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall and area residents are invited to participate.

The concert will feature guest conductor Benjamin Winn, the artistic director of the Celebration Choir of Carroll County and former choir director and music teacher at Berryville High School.

“We want you,” says a news release about the event, which will feature 52 choirs. “Join the celebration in New York City and come sing with us.”

The Celebration Choir will host an informational meeting for anyone interested in participating in the event at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, at St. Elizabeth Parish Center, 232 Passion Play Road in Eureka Springs.

Winn, a longtime Carroll County educator and conductor who is currently a choir director at Lakeside Junior High School in Springdale, was recently honored with the title of “Artist- in-Residence” for the 2024 season at Carnegie Hall.

The honor comes a year after Winn took the Berryville High School choir to perform Francis Poulenc’s “Gloria” to Carnegie Hall in 2022.

“We Remember Them: A Concert of Love, Loss and Hope,” will celebrate the relationships and connections created through music, according to the release.

The performance and travel package includes a four-night residency in lower Manhattan near Times Square and Broadway along with a a reception cruise around Ellis Island immediately following the performance.

“We expect other invited vocalists from outside of the area and state to join us virtually,” the release said. “All participants will receive music and rehearsal aides at no additional cost at the first monthly rehearsal.”

Monthly rehearsals with Winn will be officered to the local community beginning in September.
