Krewe du Kork will be kicking off the Karnival Season in Eureka Springs by beading their annual Mardi Gras Bead Tree on Spring Street in Eureka Springs starting at noon Friday, Jan. 6. Bring some beads and join in, and don’t forget your Karnival masks, feather boas, and Mardi Gras umbrellas! The Karnival season starts on Jan. 6, or Epiphany/Twelfth Night. It runs until Lent, which is the 40-day period before Easter. Since the date of Easter changes each year, so does the length of Karnival. Mardi Gras Day, Fat Tuesday, is Feb. 21. The Krewe du Kork Mardi Gras Bead Tree display will end on Ash Wednesday, Feb, 22. (Ilene Powell photo)
