Library seeking books

In preparation for their fall book sale, the Friends of the Eureka Springs Carnegie Library are asking for donations of gently used books. Donations can be brought to the library annex media center during library operating hours. ‘Scouting for Food’

Local Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts and other organization are gearing up for the annual food drive, “Scouting for Food.”

Beginning Saturday, Nov. 5 and continuing the following week, scouts will be placing bags on area doorknobs. Then, on Saturday, Nov. 12, the scouts will be collecting the bags. Those who want to participate can place donations of canned goods out on their front porch by 9 a.m. on Nov. 12.

All donations will be delivered to the Flint Street Fellowship for those who need it in Eureka Springs.

FRIDAY, NOV. 11

Veterans Day Parade

American Legion Post 9 will sponsor the Veterans Day Parade on Friday, Nov. 11, with a ceremony to follow at the Cat House parking lot in Eureka Springs, which will include a rifle volley and taps at 11:11 a.m.

Lineup for parade participants starts at 9 a.m. in front of the Eureka Springs library on Spring Street with the parade starting at 10 a.m. All veterans and their families are invited to be in the parade. Groups associated with veterans support are also invited to participate.

The parade will travel down Spring Street and end at the Cat House parking lot. A musical program will precede military honors at 11:11 a.m. A meet and greet at the Cat House will follow Honors.

The Ozark Highlander Pipe Band, the Eureka Springs High School Band, the ES Chorus and 7/8 Chorus and Sharon Parker will provide musical

Library film series continues

The Carnegie Library’s annual documentary film series continues at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, in the Library Annex Meeting Room, 192 Spring Street.

The next documentary film featured, “Roadrunner,” dives into the life of Anthony Bourdain, and his career as a chef, writer and host, revered and renowned for his authentic approach to food, culture and travel.

This film is rated R, and the runtime is 119 minutes. Popcorn and admission are free.

Friends of ES Library hold book, bake sale

The Friends of the Eureka Springs Carnegie Public Library will be holding their fall book and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12 ,and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 13.

Hundreds of books, audiobooks, DVDs and music CDs will be on, for $3 per bag. New this year will be a bake sale, so come prepared to buy goodies too! All proceeds will benefit the library’s programs and acquisitions.

The sale will be held in the Gardens Building at 190 Spring Street, and shoppers will enter through the gates to the left of the Annex Building at 192 Spring Street in Eureka Springs. There is plenty of on-street parking just beyond the library on Spring Street. Children and teen shoppers will receive half off their purchases. Cash or checks only, please. Bring your shopping bag! NOV. 18-19 Gift basket/bake sale

First Christian Church, located at 763 Passion Play Road in Eureka Springs, will host its annual gift basket and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Nov. 18 and 19. The event will be held in the lower level of the church and will include a variety of themed gift baskets perfect for holiday giving for adults and children, plus seasonal baked goods and confections.

Proceeds from the sale will go to Carroll County Shop with a Cop and the Angel Tree gift programs benefiting local children. Free parking will be available close to the entrance on the lower level behind the church. For more information, call Kathy at 479-981-0802.

The Arkansas Department of Transportation will conduct a Public Involvement meeting to discussed proposed plans to construct a roundabout at the intersection of Highways 23 and 62 in Eureka Springs.

The meeting will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 15 in the lower level of the The Auditorium, 36 South Main Street.
