A Eureka Springs woman was killed in a one-vehicle accident on Arkansas Highway 23 North on Monday, Dec. 23.

According to a report by Arkansas State Police Trooper Harley Hopper, Hazel Jean Daines, 76, was driving a 2004 Jeep Cherokee northbound in the 3400 block of Highway 23 North at 3:50 p.m. when the vehicle left the roadway to the right and struck a tree.

Daines became the 554th person to die in a traffic accident in Arkansas in 2024.
