Eureka Springs voters have rejected a proposal that would have abolished the city advertising and promotion commission and repealed the 3 percent tourism tax that supports it. In unofficial results from Tuesday’s general election, 839 votes (71.2 percent) were cast against Local Issue 3, with 339 votes (28.8 percent) for the proposal. Holiday Island voters approved an advertising and promotion tax by a vote of 780 to 621. Incumbent Kenneth Mills defeated challenger Bryce Holland by a vote of 673-560 to retain the Ward 1, Position 2 seat on the Holiday Island City Council.
