Storms that blew through Carroll County on the night of Saturday, Aug. 16, overturned campers at Dam Site Lake Campground, but no injuries were reported, according to the Carroll County Office of Emergency Management.
In a Facebook post, the Carroll County OEM said emergency crews from Berryville, Eureka Springs, Holiday Island and Inspiration Point responded along with OEM and gained access to the park to ensure no one was injured.
The area around the campground also had trees and power lines down, according to the OEM post.
At around the same time, the Holiday Island Fire Department responded to a structure and woods fire on Arkansas Highway 23. The house was unoccupied, the HIFD said in a Facebook post, and the fire was believed to have been started by a lightning strike. Personnel from Berryville, Eureka Springs, Inspiration Point, OEM, the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office and the Arkansas Forestry Commission assisted in responding to the incident, according to the HIFD post.
