Five Eureka Springs City Council members have filed as candidates to retain their seats in the Nov. 5 general election, all of them unopposed.
Incumbents David Avanzino, Susane Gruning, Steve Holifield, Terry McClung and Harry Meyer all filed as candidates during the municipal filing period that closed at noon Wednesday, Aug 7.
Council member Autumn Slane did not file as a candidate. Michael Welch filed to seek the seat currently held by Slane.
Holiday Island incumbents Lynn Dumas, Linda Graves Barbara Kuhn, Sharon Lawlor and Kenneth Mills all filed as candidates to retain their city council seats. Incumbent recorder/treasurer Wesley Stille also filed to seek a new term.
Bryce Holland filed as a challenger to Mills.
Beaver Mayor Scott W. Leech filed as a candidate to retain that office. Ralph Goodman, Tim Kilby, Wes Lakin, Billie R. Padgett and Dawn Wolfinbarger filed as candidates for the Beaver City Council.
Gene Chafin filed as a candidate for a seat on the Carroll Boone Water District board of directors.
The one-week filing period for municipal candidates opened on Wednesday, July 31.
All of the candidates will have to be certified by their respective cities, who will then notify the county clerk’s office.
The Carroll County Board of Election Commissioners will meet at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 16, for the certification of candidates.
