Farmers Market announces matching funding for food programs

The Eureka Springs Farmers’ Market (ESFM) is pleased to announce funding for matching purchases at the market with participants in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), the Woman Infants & Children (WIC) program, and the Arkansas Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (ASFMNP).

People participating in SNAP, WIC, and ASFMNP will be able to receive matching dollars during the 2024 season for fruits, vegetables, meat, eggs, value-added products and baked goods.

Program Guidelines

• SNAP/EBT: Participants can purchase any products at the market covered by SNAP/EBT from any vendor at the market. SNAP benefits may be matched for up to $20/ person/day through one program and additionally can be matched in any further amount through supplementary funding.

WIC: Participants can purchase products from approved vendors and any amount can be matched.

• ASFMNP: Participants can purchase products from approved vendors and any amount can be matched.

This funding cycle will be available through 2024 and/or until funding is totally dispersed.

This supplementary funding is made possible through partnership with Arkansas Coalition for Obesity Prevention (ArCOP), the University of Arkansas Medical Science (UAMS) Institute for Community Healthy Innovation, and Just Bee Coffee Bar.

Everyone is invited to attend the Eureka Springs Farmers market, year round, at the Eureka Springs Community Center from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Thursday at 44 Kingshighway in Eureka Springs.

On Thursday, Aug. 8, the Eureka Springs Farmers Market will celebrate National Farmers’ Market Week with three raffles courtesy of Acord Home Center Ace Hardware, Equity Bank, JSW Farm, Mon Cheri, and Onyx Cave, cooking demonstration from Karen Gros, matching funds for SNAP/WIC/ ASFMNP with free meal tokens to Harold’s Diner given to participants in food accessibility programs, artistic decorations from Balloons of Happiness, information for joining food accessibility programs including vouchers from the Area Agency on Aging of Northwest Arkansas, special edition 20th year T-shirts and tote bags with original artwork from Eureka Springs students Haylee Birchfield and Mel Smith, live music from Jerry Jordan nd a visit from Mayor Butch Berry. We Everyone is invited to join in celebrating 20 years for the Eureka Springs Farmers’ Market.
