Eureka Springs Hospital has received more than $2.2 million in funding from the State of Arkansas.
Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced last week that the hospital will receive funding. The funding is part of the Rural Hospital Sustainability Program, meant to help the long-term viability of the state’s rural hospitals, strengthen rural communities, promote economic development and provide continued access to healthcare.
Eureka Springs Hospital received approval from the State of Arkansas and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to change its designation to a Rural Emergency Hospital (REH) in January. CEO Angie Shaw announced on Nov. 20, 2023, that the hospital would receive $4,589,119 in appropriated funds from the State of Arkansas as part of the REH designation.
“We are thankful to the state for approving our designation change and giving our hospital such generous financial support,” Shaw said.
Shaw said the hospital continues to operate its emergency room 24 hours a day, seven days a week and 365 days a year. Eureka Springs Hospital is the only stroke- and trauma certified hospital in Carroll County. In addition to emergency services, the hospital offers outpatient services including radiology, laboratory, speech therapy, physical therapy and endoscopy procedures.
“We know the value of our community,” Shaw said. “We want to help everyone stay close to home to receive the care they need.”
Shaw continued, “Our hospital has been here since 1929. With the support of our local community and state leaders, we look forward to celebrating 100 years of service in 2029.”
