ECHO plans free MASH clinic July 13

Eureka Christian Health Outreach — better known as ECHO — will hold an all-day MASH (May All Stay Healthy) Clinic from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 13, at 4004 E. Van Buren in Eureka Springs.

Medical, dental and optometry services will be provided at no cost. Boston Mountain Rural Health Clinic is collaborating with ECHO and will provide free X-ray and laboratory services as needed.

Dr. Dan Bell, co-founder of the ECHO Clinic, said the clinic will be held every year. He described it as a “safety net” for people who have limited or no access to care.

Bell said the clinic hopes to reach individuals who don’t have health insurance and incomes around the federal poverty level “People that are not currently seeing a doctor or have no insurance can come and see a doctor at no expense,” Bell said.

Several retired physicians are volunteering their time for the clinic, Bell said, estimating the doctors’ combined experience at 400 years or more.

“It really is an amazing collection of experienced doctors that have volunteered their time,” Bell said.

Medical providers will include Dr. John Loudermilk, Dr. Greg Kresse, Dr. John Nash, John Hutchcroft, Mike Murphy, Sheila Howerton, Dr. Stuart Zimmerman., and Dr. Dan Bell. The optometrists will be Dr. Jim Dudley and Dr. Andy Langston. Dr. Ken Covington, whom Bell described as the “best dentist in town,” will provide dental care.

Preventive care is a point of emphasis for the clinic.

“We want to make sure people aren’t neglecting their health,” Bell said.

Patients can have their blood pressure and blood sugar levels checked in addition to other health screenings. Free medication will also be available for those who need it.

Lunch also will be served at the clinic.

Bell said as many as 60 patients may be seen.
