A Berryville man was arrested after a brief manhunt on Sunday, June 23, and was booked into the Carroll County Detention Center on charges including first-degree attempted murder. In addition to the attempted murder charge, Jacob Littlebear Dollarhide also faces felony charges of aggravated assault and first-degree endangering the welfare of a minor and misdemeanor charges of third-degree domestic battery, fleeing and failure to appear. Berryville police chief Robert Bartos said the incident began with a reported domestic disturbance involving Dollarhide, 23, and a female at the Birchtree Acres apartment complex. When bystanders intervened, Dollarhide retrieved a .22-caliber rifle, Bartos said, and began shooting. One man was hit in the arm, according to Bartos, who said Dollarhide ran from the scene and was quickly captured by law enforcement officers in a nearby field. According to the detention center intake log, Dollarhide was arrested in the 300 block of Carroll County Road 426. Bartos said the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office assisted in responding to the incident. Dollarhide was being held in the detention center on a $500,000 bond.
