The Carroll County Community Band is gearing up for its annual Spring band concert, to be held at 3 p.m. Sunday April 21 at the Performing Arts Center, 501 Bobcat Drive on the campus of Berryville High School. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students. All proceeds go to send students to summer music camp.
The band is composed of adult and student musicians from Carroll County and beyond. The band is under the leadership of Jim Swiggart, a retired band director living in Holiday Island, and assisted by Berryville High School band director Doug Blevins.
The concert will open with the traditional Star-Spangled Banner, followed by Brighton Beach, a traditional march. The program, which will last just over an hour, will include several patriotic selections as well as traditional band literature. The concert will end with a grand finale, featuring music from The Blues Brothers. There will be an opportunity for those in attendance to make additional donations as well as vote for their favorite musical selection. If you can’t make the concert but would like to support band students in Carroll County so they can attend a summer music camp, donations can be mailed to Carroll County Community Band, 902 W. Trimble, Berryville, AR 72616.
