Firefighters from Holiday Island and Eureka Springs were dispatched Tuesday morning, April 2, to a structure fire on Summit Drive in Holiday Island. The first arriving fire crew aboard Engine 2 found an older single-wide mobile home with heavy smoke coming from one end, according to a post on the Holiday Island Fire Department’s Facebook page. All the occupants had escaped. The fire crew connected to a nearby fire hydrant and stretched attack lines to the trailer. A fire attack was made through the rear door. Personnel from Eureka Springs and Holiday Island were able to bring the fire under control but the mobile home suffered extensive fire, smoke and water damage. Though some belongings were salvaged, the home is a loss.
