School board extends superintendent’s contract

The Eureka Springs School Board has given Superintendent Bryan Pruitt another stamp of approval.

At its regular board meeting held Monday, Feb. 12, the school board voted to extend Pruitt’s contract to June 30, 2027.

“They extended me and I’m thankful for that,” said Pruitt, who is in his ninth year leading the district. “It makes you feel really good to know that they believe in me, and I believe in them. It’s a partnership and shows good faith in what we’re trying to do and what we want to do for our school and community.

“I’m humbled and honored and grateful they did that, and I’m grateful to be a part of this school and community.”

Pruitt said evaluation forms were handed out to board members in January and were recently gone over with him.

“I’m just thankful to have the opportunity to be here at Eureka Springs,” the superintendent said. “It’s just a great place. Someone said the other day that Eureka is a hidden gem. Yes, they’re right.

“The school has just been really good for me and my wife and family and we are proud to be a part of the district and community.”

HYATT MOVING TO NEW ROLE

Longtime Eureka Springs High School counselor Rachal Hyatt will have a new role with the district beginning next school year.

The school board voted at the Feb. 12 meeting to approve Hyatt’s transfer to a new role as the district’s director of programs.

“We are moving her to a 210-day contract and she will be our new director of programs,” Pruitt said. “That’s going to be federal programs, communications — to make sure we are getting the word out on everything we’ve got going on — plus curriculum, grant writing and testing coordinator.

“I’m excited for her to be moving to the new position.”
