Local calendar packed with holiday events

Eureka Springs has a jampacked schedule of holiday events for all ages the next handful of days.

THURSDAY, DEC. 14

5 p.m. to 8 p.m. — “Christmas on Center” will feature a Christmas Village on Center Street with live music, a selfie station, a fire pit and Christmas decorations.

6 p.m. — The annual “Scottie Christmas Show,” will be at The Auditorium, featuring students in grades 1 through 4 from Eureka Springs Elementary School. Admission is free.

6:30 p.m. — “Paint Your Own Ornament” will be held at the Crescent Hotel. The cost is $35 per person and participants will be able to join seasoned art teacher Jessica Cummings for an evening of laughter, creativity and refreshments. 7 p.m. (6 p.m. doors) — The Eureka Springs Theatre Company will perform hilarious “radio plays” at Basecamp Event Venue, 150 Passion Play Road. Admission is $10 per person and tickets will be available at the door. Food and beverage will be available when the doors open at 6 p.m.

FRIDAY, DEC. 15

5 p.m. to 8 p.m. — A “Cocoa and Cookie Crawl” will be held at various locations on Spring Street and Main Street. A commemorative 2023 Eureka Springs Cocoa Crawl mug can be purchased from participating businesses and then attendees can stroll through town enjoying various cocoas treats along the way. Businesses participating that will have the $10 collectable mugs include: Kaleidokites, Soap Stop and Body Shop, Eureka Clothing Company, Justin Between Friends, C’est La Vie, Silver Maple Market, Silly Chile, Spring on Main, LaGrange’s Eclectic Boutique and ES Coffee House.

SATURDAY, DEC. 16

12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m. — An “Ugly Sweater Contest” will be judged at Basin Spring Park. Participants are encouraged to wear their ugliest holiday sweater while shopping downtown. Participating store owners will also have their sweaters on. Visitors are encouraged to shop, eat, enjoy carolers and see Santa at Basin Spring Park. Winners of the contest will receive a gift basket filled with Eureka Springs goodies.

3 p.m. – A “Candy Cane Hunt” will take place for kids of all ages at the Crescent Hotel. Similar to the annual Easter egg hunt, the search for candy canes happens outdoors and ends when all the candy canes are found. For more information, call 479253-9766.

■ 5:30 p.m. — Christmas carol singing will take place

at Basin Spring Park.

6 p.m. — The third annual “Jinglin’ Jeep Parade” will take place downtown and feature decorated Jeeps and storefronts.

7:15 p.m. — The classic Christmas movie “Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause,” will be shown on a big screen on the main stage at The Auditorium. Admission is free.

3 p.m. — Ignite Dance Arts presents “Dancin’ Holiday Magic” at The Auditorium. The annual Christmas recital features dancers from ages 2 to 18 and will showcase ballet, tap, jazz and contemporary dance, also highlighting their newest programs in AcroDance and Ninja Camp. Doors open at 2 p.m. All proceeds from a donation entry benefit the Ignite scholarship program. Attendees are also asked to bring two canned food items which will be donated to Loaves for Fishes Food Bank.

3 p.m. — The third annual “Teddy Bear Tea” will be held at the Crystal Dining Room at the Crescent Hotel. Guests are invited to savor a child-friendly tea menu and hot cocoa. 6:30 p.m. – The Christmas Bells Choral Concert will be held at the Eureka Springs High School Auditorium. Middle school choirs (grades 5/6 and 7/8) will perform first followed by the high school choirs (grades 9-12). Admission is free.
