The Carroll County Community Band will present its annual Christmas concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, at the Berryville Performing Arts Center.
The concert will honor veterans and will include the world premiere of a new original composition that the band has commissioned to honor America and its veterans. The title of the new composition is “Our Country, Our Freedom.” It was composed by noted composer Gary Gackstatter. The piece showcases one of the band’s favorite patriotic songs, “My Country ’Tis of Thee,” and has brief moments of reverence and memories of all branches of service and the National Anthem.
The Carroll County Community Band is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in its 17th year. The band includes both student and adult musicians who rehearse and play together. Rehearsals are held Monday evenings in the Berryville High School Band Room and the band presents Christmas and Spring concerts each year.
Proceeds from the concerts are used to help send students from Alpena, Berryville, Eureka Springs and Green Forest to university summer band camps. Twenty-two students were able to attend band camps through the program last year.
Tickets for the Dec. 3 concert are $10 for adults and $5 for students. Admission is free for all veterans. Tickets can be purchased from any community band member or at the door on the day of the concert. Doors will open at 2:30 p.m.
