Lady Highlanders shorthanded in opener

The odds were stacked against the Eureka Springs Lady Highlanders as they opened the season Tuesday, Oct. 17, with a 70-21 loss at Jasper.

Eureka Springs had just five players dressed out for the game because of injuries and other issues. The Lady Highlanders finished the game with four players on the floor after one fouled out.

“Nothing happened last night that I didn’t fully expect to happen,” Eureka Springs coach Kyle Farrar said Wednesday, Oct. 18. “I knew it was going to be rough and it was, but there were some decent things in the second half.”

Sophomore Estella Yang led the Lady Highlanders with 10 points. Senior Lyla Morris added seven.

The Lady Highlanders will be back in action Thursday, Oct. 19, at St. Paul before hosting Omaha on Friday, Oct. 20.
