Dickie art exhibit scheduled to open Oct. 13

Communion, a solo exhibit by Eureka Springs artist Carol Dickie, will open at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 13, at the Beaver Lake office of Century 21, 324 Mundell Road in Eureka Springs.

Show dates are Oct. 13-15 and Oct. 20-22, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

It has been four years since Dickie had a show, her last in the fall of 2019 before the COVID-19 pandemic.

“It is rather ironic that I named that show Solitude,” she said. “I had no idea how prophetic that would prove to be!”

“That experience impressed upon me that communion with all things is equally, if not more so, valuable,” she said.

Dickie’s mixed water media landscapes, known for their intense yet subtle colors, abstract yet naturalistic forms, include the Ozarks as well as the west, predominantly the mountains, rivers and gorges that compose the Colorado Plateau — and occasionally the Pacific Ocean.

In addition to paintings on watercolor paper, Masonite, Yupo and other substrates, Dickie has included seven new paintings on MDO board, outdoor sign board, suitable for display on covered decks. All seven of these paintings are framed with repurposed old-growth cypress or cedar.

Dickie has won numerous awards for her paintings and has had shows at both Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art and the Fort Smith Regional Art Museum. She is a signature member of the National Watercolor Society.
