Going into Tuesday’s Class 2A girls state golf championships at Glenwood Country Club, Eureka Springs coach Kyle Farrar wanted senior Ana Crider to savor the moment, regardless of her score.
“I told her, if you go out and shoot 180, I want you to shoot 180 and have as much fun as you can have,” Farrar said.
Crider did a little better than that, overcoming a shaky start to shoot a 111 on a difficult course and finish in the top 20 among more than 57 competitors.
“The course is really tight,” Farrar said. “And I think she had some nerves the first few holes, but the last 12 or 13 holes, she played really well. It was a good day and her parents were there, so I was really happy for her.”
