Kenneth George Becker, age 76, died on August 9, 2023 at the Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas with family at his side. Kenneth was born on September 8, 1946 in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin to his now deceased parents, George Charles Becker and Sylvia Helen (Klenk) Becker. Although originally from Wisconsin, Kenny was a resident of Eureka Springs, Arkansas for the last several decades of his life.
Kenny graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in Stevens Point, Wisconsin in 1964. While in high school he was a member of the cross country and swimming teams and played violin in the school orchestra. Following high school he attended the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point where he completed a bachelor’s degree in English.
In his teens Ken became an Eagle Scout, the highest achievement or rank attainable in the Boy Scouts of America. He loved the natural world and was particularly fond of trout fishing. No one could cast a dry fly with greater accuracy or finer touch, and his fishing prowess was rewarded with trophy brook and brown trout.
Ken was a fine artist in several mediums including pen and ink, colored pencil and acrylic paint. He was well read and had a life-long interest in studying languages. He was also a prolific poet filling many notebooks with his literary efforts. Ken also made music throughout his life first on violin, then cello and finally on harmonica. Among his many horticultural efforts was Ken’s ability to grow moth orchids from seed. Kenny was also a wonderful cook who could bake bread in a camp oven over an open fire or make a gourmet key lime pie in his own kitchen. A true renaissance man.
Kenny’s gentle, non-judgmental demeanor won him special friends throughout his life. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his brother, Dale (Sharron) Becker, Seligman, Missouri; brother, David (Patti) Becker, Stevens Point, Wisconsin and Ken’s beloved cat, Moonie.
Ken’s family would like to thank the staff at the Washington Regional Medical Center for their compassionate and attentive care. Ken was cremated at the Benton County Memorial Park Funeral Home in Rogers, Arkansas. There will not be a service.
