Grant will help bolster security in district courts

The Third Judicial District, which serves Carroll and Madison counties, was recently awarded $20,000 from the Arkansas Supreme Court to improve the safety of courtrooms and offices in the Berryville District Court, the Green Forest District Court and the Eureka Springs District Court.

District Judge Dale Ramsey serves as the judge for these courts. Rexanna Lilly is the chief clerk of the Berryville District Court. Ashley Gastineau serves as the chief clerk of the Green Forest District Court and Jessica Perew serves as the chief clerk of the Eureka Springs District Court.

The Supreme Court of Arkansas Committee on Security and Emergency Preparedness received applications from across the state requesting $560,043.01 whereas only $250,000 was available. Carroll County was one of four counties that received the maximum allotted amount of $20,000 per county.

“We are grateful for the work of Ashley Gastineau, chief clerk of the Green Forest District Court, in preparing the application,” said District Judge Dale Ramsey. “The safety of our courtrooms and offices is of the utmost importance, and this grant will allow us to take the necessary steps to ensure that everyone who enters our courtrooms and offices feels safe and secure.”

Breaux echoed Ramsey’s sentiments, saying: “The safety of our courtrooms and offices is a top priority, and I am pleased to see the Third Judicial District Court taking proactive steps to improve security measures. This grant will go a long way in ensuring the safety of everyone who enters these courtrooms and offices.”
