According to Carroll County Sheriff Daniel Klatt, the sheriff’s office was notified at 7:36 p.m. that witnesses had seen a male fall from the bluff.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene along with personnel from the Grassy Knob Fire Department, Eureka Springs EMS and Air Evacuation, Klatt said.
Because the terrain and lack of a trail to the ledge, the victim initially had to be reached by boat, then transported to land for transport to the hospital. He was pronounced dead at approximately 10:05 p.m. at Eureka Springs Hospital, according to Klatt.
The victim was identified as Stephon Dante Gryskiewicz, 18, of Bentonville.
During the investigation it was determined that Gryskiewicz fell approximately 50 feet off the bluff and sustained severe injury to the back of his head, Klatt said. No foul play is suspected.
