ONGOING Library seeking books
In preparation for its fall book sale, the Friends of the Eureka Springs Carnegie Library is asking for people to donate their gently used books. Donations can be brought to the library annex media center during library operating hours.

OCT. 15 Pancake breakfast
Basin Spring Lodge No. 386 Free and Accepted Masons will hold a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at the corner of Harvey and Tower streets in Eureka Springs. A full breakfast will be served. Tickets are $6 each and proceeds will benefit the Smead Walden Memorial Scholarship Fund for Eureka Springs students.
OCT. 20 Meet the candidates
The Greater Eureka Springs Chamber of Commerce will present the Eureka Springs Meet the Candidates Forum at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, at the Inn of the Ozarks Convention Center. All candidates running for mayor, city council and other local offices have been invited and everyone is welcome to attend the nonpartisan events. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for an informal meet and greet before the event. There will also be meet and greet time from 8 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. For more information, call the chamber office at 479-253-8737.
OCT. 21 Mad Hatter Ball returns
The Eureka Springs School of the Arts has announced that the 20th anniversary celebration of the Mad Hatter Ball will be held at the Crescent Hotel in Eureka Sptings on Oct. 21. The event returns to an in-person ball and will be once again held in the Crystal Ballroom after two years of virtual-only events. Tickets for this event are very limited. Legion hosts Octoberfest
American Legion Post 9 in Eureka PSrings will host an Octoberfest event for all Carroll County veterans on Saturday, Oct. 22. The event will kick off at 5 p.m. with a bring-yourown- beverage social hour, followed by a Bavarian dinner beginning at 6 p.m. For more information, call 870-654-7616.
