First priority will be given to organizations providing a public service, such as rural fire departments, schools, churches, hospital auxiliaries and services for senior citizens or veterans. Yarn Lovers Club

Yarn Lovers Club at the Green Forest Public Library takes place at 5 p.m. each Monday for those interested in knitting, crocheting, weaving, spinning, etc., (Anything with yarn!)

EVERY TUESDAY

Library storytime

Storytime at 10 a.m. at the Green Forest Public Library. All ages are welcome. There will be two groups: one for younger kids and one for older. All will have snacks and a craft.

Game night

Dungeons and Dragons at 6 p.m. every Tuesday at the Green Forest Public Library. Ages 16 and over. No table fees. Participants are asked to bring their own snacks.

Yarn Lovers Club

The Yarn Lovers Club will meet at 11 a.m. each Wednesday at the Green Forest Public Library to learn how to knit, crochet, weave, spin, etc.

Rebel Readers

Children ages 9-13 are invited to join Rebel Readers book club each Thursday during the summer. Participants read a book together, work on activities and crafts, discuss the book, and have a snack.

Get Fit Club

JoAnn at the Green Forest Library will host a Get Fit Club at 6 p.m. each Thursday. This easy stretching class helps adults of all ages and mobility stretch and get slightly more in shape.

Library seeking book donations

In preparation for its fall book sale, the Friends of the Eureka Springs Carnegie Library is asking for people to donate their gently used books. Donations can be brought to the library annex media center during library operating hours.

The library cannot guarantee that a staff member will be available to help unload books so please plan accordingly. For more information, please call 479-253-8754 or email carnegieannex@gmail.com.

Genealogy workshop

Interested in exploring your family’s history and digging for some Carroll County roots?  Join the Berryville Library and the Carroll County Historical Society from 9am until noon Friday, Oct. 7, for a free workshop to learn some basic tips and tricks about conducting genealogical research and examine for yourself the many free resources available for use while exploring your own family’s roots.

The workshop will begin at the Little Red Schoolhouse in Pioneer Park behind the Berryville Library and Senior Center, where you will learn some general tips and tricks about conducting genealogical research.  Resources available at the Berryville Library and the Historical Museum will also be explored.

Headstone Cleaning Day

The Eureka Springs Cemetery Commission is hosting a Headstone Cleaning Day on Saturday, Oct. 8. Volunteers are welcome any time between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Work will involve cleaning headstones in a manner approved by the National Park Service.

Join the effort to remove lichen, fungus and grime from headstones in the cemetery and/or learn how to properly care for your own family grave markers. Bring rubber gloves if you have them, but if not, they will be supplied. After you have attended the training to properly clean headstones, you are welcome to clean any time convenient to after checking in with the groundskeeper for proper supplies.

Snacks will be provided. Please bring your own sack lunch.

Pancake breakfast

Basin Spring Lodge No. 386 Free and Accepted Masons will hold a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at the corner of Harvey and Tower streets in Eureka Springs.

A full breakfast will be served. Tickets are $6 each and proceeds will benefit the Smead Walden Memorial Scholarship Fund for Eureka Springs students.

Historical Society meets

The Alpena Historical Society meets at 10 a.m. on the second Saturday of each month, with the exception of November and December, at Alpena Methodist Church.

The October meeting will be held Saturday, Oct. 8.

Mad Hatter Ball returns

The Eureka Springs School of the Arts has announced that the 20th anniversary celebration of the Mad Hatter Ball will be held at the Crescent Hotel in Eureka Sptings on Oct. 21.

The event returns to an in-person ball and will be once again held in the Crystal Ballroom after two years of virtual-only events. Tickets for this event are very limited.
