Fry honored as county’s first Person of the Year

Suellyn Fry is the first recipient of the Carroll County Quorum Court’s Person of the Year award.

The quorum court approved a resolution at its regular monthly meeting on Sept. 19 establishing the award and honoring Fry as its first recipient.

The resolution noted Fry’s 35 years of serving the county and the public in a variety of ways.

Fry is the director of Carroll County’s CERT team and has been involved with the county’s ambulance boards.

In addition, she is a longtime first aid and Neighborhood Watch instructor, has taught EMT and CPR courses, is a member of the Rudd Baptist Church and has been very involved locally with the Girl Scouts of America.

A Person of the Year will be selected annually through an application process and will be named during the September meeting of the quorum court.

“I’ve worked with Suellyn for probably close to 20 years, and she’s one of the most energetic, unselfish persons that I’ve ever worked with,” said District 1 Justice of the Peace Jack Deaton.
