Eureka Springs Hospital Clinic will reopen and offer primary care starting Monday, Oct. 3, at 25 Norris St., across from the hospital.
Dr. Thomas Embry is joining the clinic. Embry has practiced family medicine since 1977 and lives in Eureka Springs with his wife, Linda, and their dog, Daisy Mae.
They have eight children and 16 grandchildren.
Embry said he loves family medicine because it is so wide-ranging.
“It’s the only specialty that deals with everything from birth to the tomb, including psychiatric care. It’s an evaluation of treatment of the whole person and not just what their chief complaint is,” Embry said. “Every patient visit is an adventure.”
Embry said he was drawn to Carroll County because it is known nationally as an underserved area for healthcare.
“And it’s a beautiful area,” he said. “It’s like stepping out into a different world. There’s nothing like the beauty of the Ozarks.”
Eureka Springs Hospital CEO Angie Shaw said everyone is looking forward to offering primary care to the community.
“It is a big need and we are here to meet our community’s needs,” Shaw said.
“I’m willing and able to treat everybody that shows up and I’m looking forward to not only serving this community but the surrounding communities that choose to come to the Eureka Springs Hospital Clinic,” Embry said.
The clinic is open by appointment. To schedule an appointment, call 479-2531310.
