No new deaths related to COVID-19 pandemic were reported in Carroll County since Aug. 26, but the number of active cases saw a nearly 13 percent increase according to reports issued by the Arkansas Department of Health on Friday, Sept. 2.
The report included 41 new cases of the novel coronavirus in the county, with an additional 34 “recoveries” — meaning those individuals have passed the quarantine period and are no longer being monitored by the health department — bringing the local totals to 6,795 cases since the pandemic began with 6,619 recoveries.
Seven people died from complications related to the virus in August, bringing the county’s reported death toll to 115.
Statewide, Arkansas saw an increase of 6,890 cases in the seven-day period ending Sept. 1, along with 5,830 recoveries, and an additional 36 deaths.
On the vaccination front, the ADH reported that 1,660,441Arkansans aged 5 and older have been fully vaccinated against the virus, with another 288,611 listed as partially vaccinated. Of those fully vaccinated, 824,055 people have also received a third-dose booster.
In Carroll County, 36,358 doses of the various vaccines have been administered, and the health department reported that 54.4 percent of eligible residents are fully vaccinated, with an additional 7.4 percent listed as partially vaccinated.
