Primary runoff: Early voting ongoing, election day June 21

Carroll County’s six vote centers will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, for the Republican preferential primary runoff election.

Voters who chose a Republican or nonpartisan judicial ballot in the May 24 primary are eligible to vote in the Republican runoff, as are registered voters who did not vote in the primary. Voters who chose a Democratic ballot in the primary are not eligible to vote in the Republican runoff. Early voting will be available from 8:30

Early voting will be available from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. from Tuesday, June 14, through Friday, June 17, and on Monday, June 20, at the Carroll County Airport at 518 County Road 308 just west of Berryville and St. Elizabeth Catholic Church at 232 Passion Play Road in Eureka.

The county’s six vote centers — which will be open only on June 21 — are located at Freeman Heights Baptist Church, 522 W. Freeman Ave. in Berryville; St. Elizabeth Parish Center, 232 Passion Play Road in Eureka Springs; Green Forest United Methodist Church, 100 S. Springfield in Green Forest; Holiday Island Country Club, No. 1 Country Club Drive in Holiday Island; Oak Grove Freewill Baptist Church, 74 County Road 624 in Oak Grove; and Osage Baptist Church, 16475 Highway 103 South in Alpena. Two races are included on the runoff bal lot: State Sen. Bob Ballinger and Bryan King are seeking the Republican nomination for the District 28 seat in the state Senate and Bud Phillips and David Writer are seeking the Republican nomination for county judge.

The runoff winners will advance to the general election ballot in November. The Republican state Senate nominee will face Democrat Jim Wallace in the general election while the Republican nominee for county judge will run against Democrat James “Rusty” Rusterholz Jr. and independent Kelly Wood.
